Our Madrid 1967 T-Shirt design which has never been produced on a T-Shirt previously, has been carefully created from an original black & white photograph taken on the night to reflect the momentous occasion when Celtic were invited to play in the testimonial for Real Madrid’s legendary Argentinean striker, Alfredo Di Stefano on June 7th 1967, just days after Celtic won the European Cup beating Internazionale Milan 2-1 in Lisbon.
It was Di Stefano’s, who scored in 5 consecutive European Cup Finals for Madrid, last ever match in their jersey, leaving the Bernabeu pitch after 14 minutes in front of 130,000 fans to rapturous applause.
This shirt is a little piece of Celtic history from that game which the Club were proud to play in, winning 1-0 with a Bobby Lennox goal. The words on the shirt in Spanish are from Di Stefano himself. “The champions of Europe Glasgow Celtic, was the only club Di Stefano wanted in the Bernabeu stadium”
